The mens shirt has evolved a lot since its invention
The men’s shirt has come a long way. From the simple upper body garment at the time of its invention to the stylish garment of today, the mens shirt has traveled a long way. At the time of its invention, it was purely a protective kind of a garment worn by the male species for protection against the vagaries of Nature. Today, the same shirt has become a sort of a style statement in many ways. In addition to the men, women have started wearing the same as well. There have been other mens upper garments such as the T-shirts, polo shirts, etc. However, none can match the simplicity as well as the style quotient of the mens shirts in any way. There are hundreds of types of mens shirts. It would be difficult to explain each type of shirt. However, we shall look at the most common ones in brief.
The simple half-sleeved shirt would seem to be the most common shirt of all. Rarely would you be able to find a man not owning a half-sleeved shirt. It has its own qualities as well. You get protection from the summer heat. Since half the sleeve would be open, you have a good circulation of air as well thereby keeping your body cool in the oppressive heat. The full-sleeved shirt is a variant of the half sleeved one. You would usually find the full-sleeved shirt to be longer in length than the half-sleeved one. The reason is very simple. You have to tuck the full-sleeved shirt into your pants whereas you have the liberty to leave the half-sleeved shirt hanging over the pants. Therefore, you would find many people folding their sleeves when they do not tuck their full-sleeved shirts inside their pants.
The main part of the shirt would be the collar. This part of the shirt would be the most attractive to look at as well. You can tell the style of the mens shirt from the type of collar it has. The most stylish ones have the best-looking collars as well. The collars would be rigid in comparison to the other parts of the shirt. This gives the masculine look to the entire garment. Of course, women too wear the shirts nowadays. There is a basic difference between the women’s shirt and a men’s shirt. The men’s shirt would have the buttons on the right side whereas the women’s shirts would have them on the left. The reason for the same could become the subject of a different article altogether.
